While some people tend to get distracted by wealth, some just never forget their roots no matter how much fame and money they may have.

If you didn’t already know this famous story, George Clooney surprised 14 of his close friends with a million dollars each just before he settled down a couple of years ago, to spend more time with his little family.

For people who were wondering if the story was indeed true or why he did that for his friends, we finally have an explanation!

The 59 year-old said that when he was appearing in the thriller movie ‘Gravity’, he was given percentages of the movie in lieu of a salary. The team wasn’t expecting the movie to be a hit back in 2013 but things took a turn for the better. It ended up being so popular, and the American actor decided to share the money he had unexpectedly made with his 14 closest friends.

George made the decision since he was not a family man yet at that time, and he opted to give it away instead.

He drove an old van to a warehouse in downtown Los Angeles where they have “giant pallets of cash” before he called his friends over to his house. Holding a map and pointing to all the places he got to go in the world because of them he asked “How do you repay people like that?”, to which he himself answered, “Oh well, how about a million bucks?”

Who would have thought!

He also said that without them, he wouldn’t have any of this right now. That’s very thoughtful of George! What’s the most memorable thing your friend has done for you?
