... and our MIX Breakfast announcer Rod, is all of them in one!
We had the opportunity to talk to Rod about fatherhood to see if he’s the same person he is in the studio and guess what?
He totally is!
Rod Monteiro is one cool dad and his son, Darion is there to vouch for it!
Here are some of the questions we asked Darion over the phone and his answers to them:
1. When is Dad funny?
Darion: Most of the time! He always has some corny jokes to crack and I sometimes don’t understand how is he so energetic and funny all the time!
2. What makes dad happy?
Darion: Mmm, Motorbikes, golf, mommy…

3. If you could give him anything, what would you give him?
Darion: This is hard! I’d give him everything!
4. What would you like to say to dad?
Darion: Even when sometimes I may look like I don’t appreciate some of the things you do, I really do.

In the 16 years of Rod’s journey as a father, his only focus is on how to enjoy the journey of fatherhood no matter the curveballs his son throws at him.
He learnt the importance of togetherness from his father, which he wishes to pass down to Darion.
He always wants to be involved in his child’s progress in everything and while sometimes it may come off as being ‘kepoh’, most of the times it’s just him looking out for Darion.
When asked about his favourite thing about fatherhood, Rod went silent for a bit before he said, “I can’t pinpoint one favourite thing because every day is an exciting journey with my boy, and I love them all”.
This Father’s Day, the only advice he’d like to give the younger fathers out there, is to be present in your children’s progress and just learn to enjoy the ride because just when you think you’ve got it all, you don’t! Nothing will ever go as planned so only cross the bridge when you reach it. There’s no point in worrying before something happens…
