Mariah Carey will be receiving the coveted Icon Award at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards.
The award is well-deserved, as the iconic superstar has gone over the threshold in smashing records since her debut back in 1990.
Not only will the award-winning songstress be accepting the award that night, she’ll also be performing a medley of her greatest hits on stage!

Carey stormed the world when she debuted her self-entitled album and peaked the Billboard’s charts in 1990. That iconic album yielded four Billboard’s Hot 100 No. 1s.
Her first single, 'Emotions', made her the first artist to top the chart with each of her first five releases. She continued breaking records when she topped the Hot 100 in each year of the 90s.

She then became the only artist to ever rule the chart in every year of any decade.
She joins the roster of only seven other artists to ever accept the award. Previous recipients of the Icon Award includes Janet Jackson, Cher, Neil Diamond, Celine Dion, Jennifer Lopez, Prince and Stevie Wonder.
