It takes a degree to be a teacher, a Master’s degree or a PhD to be a professor but what does it take to be kind?

Nothing much, just a pure heart and you don’t even need a syllabus.

This teacher loves her students so much that she started a free school meal initiative to help the less fortunate students.

Teacher Maisarah Hannam started the project in March 2018 with full support from her colleagues.

The Guidance and Counselling teacher from SMK Convent St Cecilia in Sandakan, Sabah felt deeply for the students who come from financially-challenged households. After seeing some students going to school on empty stomach and some eating only rice with salt, she was  determined to introduce this project to the school.

Teacher Maisarah recently took to her Facebook to share heartwarming images of students enjoying their little packet of nasi lemak that was made full of love.

"Kerana kita akan lebih Bahagia jika perut kita Kenyang..." ☺️☺️☺️ Kami kembali setelah bercuti lama. Terima kasih...

The Facebook post has since gained over 1,000 shares and people are just complimenting her efforts to make this project a success. Some even came forward to express interest to donate to the initiative.

What initially started off with 15-20 packs of food has now increased to 50 packs. If all goes well, teacher Maisarah wants to introduce another initiative, which gives free drinks to everyone including the school gardeners, security guards and cleaners on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

We are so proud of her acheivements and we’re glad the students would all leave with happy tummies!
