They need to be familiar with these.

Pregnancy and parenting can be both exciting and nerve-wracking, especially for new parents.

Having pets at home actually adds one more thing to your to-do list..You have to remember that not only is your life going to change with the arrival of your baby, your pet’s life is going to change too. So here’s how you can prep your pet for a new member’s arrival.

Introduce your pet to common baby sounds and smells

Newborns can be noisy sometimes and these sudden sounds can make your pets feel overwhelmed, frustrated and agitated. When you play recordings of baby noises every now and then, they will be able to create an association with them and instead of being scared or upset, they will welcome the noise.

Shift your routine

You won’t have as much time as you used to have before your baby arrived. Playtime, walk-time have to be rescheduled and your pets should realise these changes and adapt to them. So, gradually make the changes in time. You can also experiment by bringing an empty stroller during walks so your pet dogs will be more familiar with the new change.

If it’s too overwhelming for you to do it all alone, you can consider getting a caregiver or a pet sitter.

Establish new rules

If you don’t want your pets in the bedroom upon your baby’s arrival, or if you don’t want them to go near certain furniture in the house, you should gradually establish these rules before you bring your baby home. Sudden changes may cause your pet to resent your newborn.

Well, hope these help! At the end of the day, it will all be worth it when you see your baby and your pet bonding well with each other!
