We just got news that Anne Hathaway will play the Grand High Witch in Robert Zemeckis and Warner Bros’ new adaptation of The Witches!
It was said that she first withheld the offer for the adaptation and also Sesame Street due to a scheduling clash between the two movies. However, we’re glad that the issues have finally been settled, and she has agreed to play the role of the Grand High Witch.
Initially portrayed by Anjelica Huston way back in 90s, the movie is about a 7-year-old boy who has a run-in with real-life witches. Although Warner Bros had previously made a loose adaptation based on the book, sources say the upcoming adaptation will be more rooted towards the original material.
It’s a little hard to imagine the pretty princess from Princess Diaries turning into a witch, but we know that it’s going to be an interesting role anyway! Cant’ wait for the movie!
