Videos from the Mrs. Sri Lanka 2021 beauty pageant that was held recently, have been making rounds on the internet, but not for a good reason.

Pushpika De Silva was crowned the winner during the competition. However, her crown was snatched moments after she took her victory walk on the ramp. Former titleholder Caroline Juria announced that Pushpika was undeserving of the crown as she was a divorcee. She stripped off her crown and awarded it to the runner up.

She was quoted saying “There is a rule that prevents women who have already been married and are divorced, so I am taking steps to make the crown go to second place.”

Sources revealed that Pushpika is separated and not divorced. She took to her Facebook saying that she wanted to dedicate the crown to the single moms who are suffering to raise their kids alone.

She added that she would take legal action for the unreasonable treatment she received while on stage. She also suffered head injuries. The national director of Mrs. Sri Lanka World, Chandimal Jayasinghe confirmed that the crown will be returned to her and that his team was disappointed over the former title winner’s behaviour. Mrs. World Organisation has begun an investigation on the matter.
