You know how movies and TV series often use facial recognition systems to track down criminals? Well, it's real and it’s happening right now in Penang!

Penang has just implemented new facial recognition technology in a total of 767 cameras to help identify and apprehend criminals!
The cameras will use be used to track down criminals using the footages of any crimes that had happened, and it will then trigger an alarm when it detects the suspect’s latest location.
More cameras will be installed along the way and the police will use the data collected from the CCTVs to apprehend wanted criminals!
The facial recognition system can also detect suspects that committed crimes outside of Penang!
This technological advancement definitely makes us feel safer! Hopefully it will be installed in the whole of Malaysia soon!
