Even the biggest enemies would unite together to fight for our ‘nasi lemak’ rights, so don’t play play, ok?

A UK-based journalist, Katie Morley wasn’t satisfied with the food served during her British Airways flight and we’re pretty sure she wasn’t expecting what unfolded next.
In the name of public interest, am sharing this wickedly bad meal British Airways treated me to during a 13hr flight. Behold: chicken curry served with anaemic boiled egg, topped with smelly, slimy anchovies. ANCHOVIES. I quite like plane food usually, and this was a 0/10 🤢 pic.twitter.com/ZmgbGa6znV

Of course, people were not having the ‘anaemic boiled egg, topped with smelly, slimy anchovies’ part.
The Twitterverse united to stand for our beloved ‘santan goodness' and Katie tweeted saying that she did not mean to offend anyone… well, well.
you seem like the person who would bully kids for getting ethnic food to school pic.twitter.com/JRz8bZ5GYW

Aka nasi lemak. Classic Malaysian breakfast dish. Would take this over over-boiled pasta on an airline... as Brit w Malaysian heritage, I’m pretty down with tbh.

It sounds like your dissing this dish. But, are you calling out the execution? Coz that is important distinction
You dont like #nasilemak and that is fine. I am thankful I was born and still live in Malaysia where I can eat this everyday. Maybe you should have a proper sit down where you can actually enjoy it. If you dont still like it, then stay in UK.

I thought you are able to choose your own meal in BA? Have you ever encounter a nasi lemak dish before? Please educate yourself about others people food and culture before you bash those cuisine.
— Senah (@SenahDebab) January 16, 2020
Just say you hate anchovies and GO

You're a 0/10 for never having tried Nasi Lemak after all these years living

Never disrespect nasi lemak like this ever again

Here’s Katie’s tweet to the whole mess she (unknowingly) made.
Many Malaysians have got in touch to say the meal I tweeted about yday is a popular national dish. I’d not come across it before & meant no offence. As many have pointed out, I was clearly served a v poor version by BA. Sure it can be lovely & hope to try the real thing one day!
— Katie Morley (@KatieMorley_) January 16, 2020
We Malaysians are passionate about our food! Hope Katie gets to try the ‘real’ hot and spicy nasi lemak one day, like some warm Malaysians said.
This is our Nasi Lemak look like, you should come to Malaysia and try! pic.twitter.com/TdlcJQKJUr

Also, I love how Malaysians are always protective of our country. Love yall!
Lastly, Katie, if you ever visit Malaysia, lmk. I’ll bring you to eat the best nasi lemak; Mine 😋 pic.twitter.com/Kq2Xjur2g5
Meh mari Malaysia, kekgi aku bowok mu makan nasi lemak hok sedap sekali kat dunia
— Minamino (@CxkVito) January 16, 2020
These are what real Nasi Lemak looks like. Do try it if u ever land on M'sia. Want spicy, ask 4 more 'sambal'. Want to feel the crunch, ask 4 more nuts. Nasi Lemak with 'rendang' (curry according to u) is another level of PERGH! Nasi Lemak made by makcik tepi jalan is ORIGINAL 👍 pic.twitter.com/4WHoj9pBUT

if you ever dropped by SE Asia, you can give Nasi Lemak a shot. The dish is actually pretty awesome. pic.twitter.com/sLTcArt8Bl

Would you fight for nasi lemak?
