50% Raya Toll Discount Announced

The government's Hari Raya toll discount is expected to cost over 21 million ringgit in compensation to concessionaires.  

This, as part of efforts to lighten the burden on Malaysians who will be returning to their hometowns for the festive season. 

Earlier, the Prime Minister announced a 50% toll discount nationwide for all Class 1 private vehicles.  

The cheaper rate will run from March 18th to 19th but will not apply to tolls at the country’s borders including the Sultan Iskandar Building.

Speaking of Raya, the Road Transport Department will intensify enforcement against buses that do not have Speed Limitation Devices installed ahead of Aidilfitri.  

The department also stressed that operators are required to install SLD systems as part of the enforcement which came into effect last year.

 And domestic tourism expenditure reached a record high of over 121 billion ringgit last year. 

The Chief Statistician says this figure is an over 13% increase from the number recorded the year prior.
