70% Turnout Expected For Johor Polls

The Election Commission is expecting the turnout for tomorrow’s Johor state election to hit around 70 percent.

This is due to the public response during the campaign period, with interest and enthusiasm in voting seen to be relatively high.

The EC says its projection is also based on public awareness about the importance of the electoral process.

For the record, some 2.7 million registered voters are eligible to cast their ballots tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the Commission is also urging employers to let their staff go out to cast their ballots tomorrow, reminding that companies are not allowed to cut wages or impose penalties on those taking time off to vote.

In a related development, the Transport Ministry says train and bus tickets from the Klang Valley to Johor have all been snapped up ahead of polling day.

Train tickets from JB to other locations in the state have also been sold out.
