His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia has consented to granting Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak a conditional pardon.  

It allows the ex-PM to serve the remainder of his SRC International prison sentence under house arrest.    

The Pardons Board says that it's on the condition that the former prime minister pays a fine of RM50 million.    

Datuk Sri Najib must also comply with all set conditions, and if there are any breaches, the house arrest will be revoked, and he must return to prison.  

The ex-pm was also convicted in a second trial related to the 1MDB scandal, and the verdict is still under appeal.  

He is also facing civil lawsuits over the scandal. 

Meanwhile, Current PM Datuk Sri Anwar Ibrahim assured that the decision does not undermine the government's firm stance against corruption and the abuse of power. 

He also clarified that all corruption cases must proceed in accordance with due legal process...

ASEAN must take more proactive steps to combat seasonal haze.  

Atmospheric scientist Dr Jayaprakash Murulitharan says it's no longer enough to simply react whenever there are massive forest fires. 

He told Astro Awani, the region must use predictive tools to forecast haze outbreaks, so that preventive measures can be taken...  

Dr Jayaprakash previously warned that the haze situation would hit its peak from the middle to the end of this month.

The Malaysian Armed Forces is aiming to establish at least one Community 

Rehabilitation Centre at all major camps to care for children with special needs. 

This, as part of efforts to support its personnel, particularly those caring for special needs children.  

These centers would give affected personnel peace of mind, allowing them to fully focus on their duties.
