Govt Closely Monitoring El Nino

The government is keeping a close eye on the potential impact of El Nino.

The Prime Minister says he wants grassroots-level preparation strengthened, and for more public engagement to be held to improve understanding about the weather phenomenon. 

Meanwhile, the Economy Ministry is preparing for the potential effect of El Nino on the economy and public services.

This, after past El Nino events led to things like school closures due to high temperatures…. and a drop in palm oil production.

Unemployed graduates in the country are struggling with a lack of soft-skills during the job interview process.

The Public Service Department says its identified this as an area that needs rectifying, to help improve the employability and marketability of graduates.

This, as more employers emphasize communication skills, command of the English language and even self-confidence…in addition to academic qualifications.

The white aftermarket car lights – which has become trendy recently – are not JPJ-approved.

The Transport Ministry says authorities are now studying the impact of this modification, with action to be taken if the lights are found to be unsafe or disruptive to other road users.
