Meanwhile, the ministry revealed that child sexual abuse cases in Selangor have increased by 70% since 2021.
Of this figure, rape remained the most common sexual offence involving children, with almost 1,900 cases recorded over the last few years.
This was followed by physical abuse, non-physical abuse, possession of child pornography, and producing or distributing child pornography.

In a related development, the ministry says children suspected of abuse can seek treatment at private hospitals, but such facilities are still subject to the same child protection procedures and reporting requirements in government hospitals.
