Malaysian Workers To Feel Pinch Starting June

The broader domestic market has yet to experience widespread disruptions from the ongoing war.

The Economy Ministry explained that the conflict carries a 'lag effect' which will soon hit workers.

In fact, it's warning that the local labor market will feel the real impact of the geopolitical crisis by June.

The ministry adds that while sea and land transport, including cargo handling and public transport, remain relatively stable...the aviation and tourism sectors are already showing clear signs of stress.

For example, over 50 weekly flights involving six airlines were cancelled last month while tourist arrivals also recorded a decline.

The government is also projecting a massive drop of 1.5 million flight passengers from the Middle East for the year.
