The government has announced a new RM20 billion economic recovery plan called Program Strategik Memperkasa Rakyat dan Ekonomi or PEMERKASA.

The PM says under the program, the government will increase its allocation for the National COVID-19 Immunisation Program to achieve the target of reaching herd immunity by the end of this year.

Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin says 15,000 program officers will be placed at vaccination centers nationwide.

On another note, Tan Sri Muhyiddin says the government will continue to support those who’ve been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Individuals from the B40 income group who’ve lost their jobs due to the outbreak will be given a RM500 one-off cash payment.

An additional RM500 payment will also be given to Bantuan Prihatin Rakyat recipients earning RM1,000 and below.

He adds that a RM3,000 one-off payment will be given to registered tour agencies, while homestay operators will be given a one-off cash aid of RM600.

Tan Sri Muhyiddin also says that the government will maintain the current ceiling price for RON95 and diesel, amid rising global oil prices.

The ceiling for RON95 petrol will remain at RM2.05, while diesel's maximum price is maintained at RM2.15

COVID-19 SOP violators can get a discount for their compounds

Those who receive a compound for violating COVID-19 SOPs can have their fine reduced by half if they pay within a week of receiving the fine.

Meanwhile, the de facto Law Minister says those who pay within two weeks will see the fine reduced by 25%.

Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan adds that after the two week period, violators must pay the full amount.

Those who can't afford to pay the compound can appeal with the Health Ministry, particularly those from the B40 income group, as well as the disabled, students, and those with chronic illness.

PM and Health DG receive second dose of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine

Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is among the first recipients to get the second dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.

Health Director General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also took his second shot today.
