Malaysia announces nationwide MCO from May 12

All schools and colleges are to be closed but daycare centres and kindergartens can stay open.

All economic sectors are allowed to operate but employers must also enforce a work-from-home policy.

Dining-in is banned at restaurants and eateries.

The ban on interstate and inter-district travel will remain in place.

Only three persons will be allowed to travel in a car, taxi or e-hailing vehicle.

Daily Covid-19 case number saw a slight uptick in cases with 3,807 infections.

Selangor again had the highest number of new infections, followed by Sarawak and Kelantan.

Another 17 people succumbed to the virus.

Malaysia has decided to add Singapore in the list of places where local community cases involving SARS-CoV-2 Variant of Concern have been reported.

This comes after the Republic reported the transmission of various COVID-19 variants of concern in the country, including the variants first detected in Brazil and India.

Malaysia has also agreed to temporarily suspend the Malaysia-Singapore Reciprocal Green Lane scheme at its side, starting from Thursday.
