Malaysia’s number of new COVID-19 cases has again passed the 7,000 mark.

The Health Ministry reported 7,703 new infections today, with 2,728 cases detected in Selangor alone.

KL had the second-highest number of infections with 701 cases, followed by over 500 each in Sarawak, and Negeri Sembilan.

Meanwhile, the death toll has risen to 2,993 after 126 patients succumbed to the virus.

This is a new record for daily fatalities.

WHO approval serves as confidence boost for Sinovac vaccine

The Minister-in-charge of the National Immunisation Program is hopeful that people will have more confidence in the Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine, after the World Health Organisation approved it for emergency use.

Khairy Jamaluddin says this proves that Sinovac is safe and effective against the coronavirus.

This also means that all COVID-19 vaccines under the government's immunization plan are validated by the WHO.

BNM reiterates financial aid is available for loan borrowers

Bank Negara has reiterated that all loan borrowers who've suffered a drop in income due to the COVID-19 pandemic ARE eligible to receive financial aid to repay their loans.

Meanwhile, the central bank says those from the B40 group can now opt for either a three-month moratorium, or reduce their monthly installments by half for six-months.

Financial assistance is also available for those who've lost their jobs, as well as businesses which are banned from operating during the total lockdown.
