govt announces ceiling prices for covid self-test kits

Starting Sunday (September 5th), COVID-19 self-test kits will retail for RM19.90 per unit.

The Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry says that the wholesale ceiling price is fixed at RM16.

It warned that those caught selling the kits beyond their respective ceiling prices will face the full brunt of the law, as it expects an increase in demand.

Daily COVID-19 cases in the country rose to 20,988 today, with the bulk of the total detected in Selangor.

The Health Ministry says Sarawak, Sabah, Kedah, and Johor reported over 2,000 cases each.

Penang and Kelantan also had four-digit infections.

Around 85% of Malaysia's adult population has already received one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

This accounts for nearly 20 million recipients.

Overall, more than 35 million doses have now been administered nationwide.
