Usage of Covid-19 ICU beds at 90% nationwide

The usage of Covid-19 ICU beds has reached 90% nationwide.

The Health Ministry says 3 states have exceeded their capacity namely Sabah, Kedah and Perak.

Labuan, meanwhile, has yet to use any of its 18 ICU beds.

Malaysia reported 249 Covid-19 fatalities yesterday, including 80 brought-in-dead cases.

Labuan has recorded zero Covid-19 fatalities for the past 30 days, with the last reported death on August 3rd.

This as health officials confirmed a rise in daily cases, with 20,988 infections.

Melaka will enter Phase 2 of the National Recovery Plan, while Negeri Sembilan will proceed to Phase 3 tomorrow.

The government has also agreed to allow Langkawi to be the first travel destination to reopen, under a new ‘travel bubble’ programme which will begin on Sept 16.

Other destinations will also be allowed to accept tourists once a vaccination rate of 80% is achieved.
