Teachers who refuse to take the COVID-19 vaccine, will not be allowed to teach students once physical lessons resume next month.

The Education Ministry says it's to ensure a safe school environment for students, amid the ongoing pandemic.

It will issue assignment guidelines for unvaccinated educators.

The Health Minister says he will hold talks with the Education Ministry, to discuss implementing a vaccination mandate on teachers.

Khairy Jamaluddin says it’s because making COVID-19 vaccinations compulsory comes with its own legal implications.

Some 2,500 teachers have yet to be immunised, while around 96 percent of educators have already been given their first dose.

Ceiling prices for COVID self-test kits are final

The Health Minister says the government has no plans to postpone the enforcement of the ceiling prices for COVID self-test kits.

Khairy Jamaluddin says the decision is final as it was made after considering the needs of the people, adding that there must be balance between suppliers and the rakyat

Starting tomorrow, self-test kits will retail for RM19.90 per unit, while the wholesale ceiling price will be fixed at RM16.
