The large number of Covid-19 deaths in highly vaccinated areas like the Klang Valley and Sarawak are due to a backlog in death reports.

Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin says the number can be expected to go down in the next two or three weeks.

This as Malaysia reported 272 deaths from Covid-19 yesterday, including 81 brought-in-dead cases.

The rate of occupancy for hospital beds in ICUs is currently at 86%.

Nearly 66% of the 17,352 Covid-19 cases reported yesterday lacked full Covid-19 vaccination.

This means they were either partially vaccinated or completely not immunised.

The Health Ministry says almost 35% of them were fully vaccinated, with the majority of them either asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic.

The lorry driver who rammed into 5 vehicles on Jalan Ipoh yesterday, had tested positive for drugs.
