Cabinet agrees to table laws against anti-hopping and limit PM’s term

The government will seek to amend the Federal Constitution to limit the term of the prime minister to 10 years.

PM Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob says the government will also introduce an anti-hopping law and implement Undi 18 soon.

He also says the Opposition will be roped in to the National Recovery Council where they can present their views and propose improvements.

The Opposition leader will also be provided resources and support that are equivalent to that of a minister.

341 Covid-19 fatalities were in the country yesterday, including 102 brought-in-dead cases.

The Health Ministry also says ongoing genome sequencing has identified 103 more cases of the Delta variant since August 29.

To date, there are 1,304 variants of concern cases.

The Health Ministry has detected 37 new Covid-19 clusters in the country.

30 of them were workplace clusters, 5 were community clusters and 2 involved high-risk groups.

This as daily COVID-19 infections in the country rose to 21,176 yesterday, with Sarawak having the most cases.
