Residents in Selangor who were hit hard by floods are set to receive a financial boost.

The state’s Menteri Besar says flood-stricken families will be given a payment of RM1,000.

Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari adds that RM10,000 will be given to families who lost their loved ones.

He says so far, 17 bodies have been found amid the floods.

Ten deaths were reported in Klang alone, while Hulu Langat had three fatalities, and Sepang with four.

Investigations are ongoing into their cause of death.

The government has promised to do better, when it comes to handling floods.

PM Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob says he does not deny that there were shortcomings in managing the floods, especially in Selangor.

He adds that he does not blame the rakyat for making complaints, but is instead grateful for their concerns.

Man pleads not guilty following road accident killing 10

A man in Selangor has pleaded not guilty to ten counts of driving dangerously, during an accident along the Elite Highway.

Ten people were killed in the accident last week.

It was reported that a mother and her eight children were among the victims, after their vehicle was rear-ended on the emergency lane.
