The government has announced more initiatives to lighten the burden of flood victims and businesses throughout the country.

Among them are a repayment assistance scheme for flood victims with housing or property loans, car loans, credit cards, and personal loans.

Bank Simpanan Nasional will be offering zero-interest personal financing up to RM5,000.

Also, a 6-month moratorium on installments will be granted to all flood victims nationwide.

Motor workshop operators have been reminded not to take advantage of the flood situation by charging excessively for repairs to vehicles damaged by flood waters.

The Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry says if they do so, they would be investigated under the Consumer Protection Act.

As such, consumers are advised to obtain the written price quotations on the vehicle repairs from dealers.
