A bill on the separation of powers between the Attorney General and Public Prosecutor, could be tabled by the end of the year.

Deputy Minister for Law and Institutional Reform M. Kulasegaran says work to prepare the bill is now in the final phase, while discussions have already been held with the relevant stakeholders.

He adds that they’re now looking to learn from other countries who already practice separation of powers, to do a comparison.

The operator of the Express Rail Link or ERL is now free to determine its own fares for train travel to and from KLIA.

The Transport Ministry says this is because of a new concession agreement between the operator and the government – which had previously regulated the fares.

Minister Antony Loke has also indicated that ERL has no plans at the moment to increase ticket prices.

The government will create a single body to rate all TVET programs in the country.

Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi – who is the National TVET Council Committee Chairman – says this is to standardize the quality of the courses offered.

It is also to avoid any mis-match between the courses, and the actual needs of the industry.

The government may have to review its target of having 10 thousand electric vehicle charging stations by 2025.

The Investment, Trade and Industry minister says there are several issues that need to be addressed first – including streamlining the approval process -  before the target can be met.

So far, only around 1,500 such charging stations have been completed.
