cuepacs not in favour of scrapping pensions

CUEPACS is urging the government not to go ahead with the plan to abolish the pension scheme for new civil servants and replace it with EPF contributions.

It says many government staff feel the EPF scheme is inadequate for them due to their current low salaries.

The umbrella body is also proposing that the government start by abolishing pensions for Ministers and MP’s first, if it is looking for ways to save money.

Police are bracing for a spike in reports linked to Artificial Intelligence.

The Commercial Crimes Investigation Department says this is due to the prevalence of the technology, which can be misused to spread misinformation and fake news.

The CCID director says scams, cryptocurrency and investment fraud as well as ransomware attacks are some of the examples of other crimes that can be committed using AI.

The MACC expects Tun Daim Zainuddin to be charged in court next week, after the former Finance Minister was discharged from hospital.

However, the commission says it is still deliberating what charges to bring against Tun Daim, who’s been the subject of a graft investigation.

There are currently over 3,600 flood evacuees across four states.

Terengganu is the worst hit…with just over two thousand victims, with the rest in Kelantan, Pahang and Johor.

The de-facto Law Minister says there are no plans to amend the current anti-party hopping law…saying the government is more focused on ensuring the enforcement of existing laws.
