The government is looking into implementing some form of controls for social media.

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil says this follows the increase in cyber security, privacy, and copyright issues, as well as indecent content on these platforms.

The Minister adds that such monitoring would ensure that platform operators abide by the set guidelines to protect the rights of consumers.

The Education Ministry will soon hold talks with the Communications Ministry…regarding the issue of kids under 13 owning TikTok accounts.

The Education Minister says they need to get all the information first, before considering any form of guidelines or controls on the matter.
