We will continue to feel the effects of El Nino until the middle of this year.  

MetMalaysia's Terengganu director Rosli Zakaria says the phenomenon, and the resulting hot weather is more conducive for the spread of diseases like dengue.  

As such, he says we should take extra precautions to make sure our surroundings are free from aedes mosquito breeding grounds.  

Rosli also reminded us to limit our outdoor activities during this time, to reduce the risk of heatstroke.

The government is taking steps to make sure there is no price gouging at Ramadan Bazaars during this year's fasting month.  

The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry says it will launch a special operation next week, to ensure that traders are selling their goods at a fair price.  

Deputy minister Fuziah Salleh adds that some Ramadan Bazaars will also offer affordable food under the Menu Rahmah initiative.  

Meanwhile visitors to the bazaars will receive special incentives when paying via e-Wallet.

Penang says state civil servants will receive special aid of half a month salary, or at least RM1,200, for Hari Raya Aidilfitri.  

The assistance, to help with their festive preparations, will be paid out on March 15th.

The prosecution has filed an appeal to the Federal Court, against the Court of Appeal's decision to acquit former Felda Chairman Tan Sri Isa Samad on 6 counts of corruption linked to the purchase of a hotel in Kuching.
