The Education Minister says an early intervention programme will be given to Year 1 primary who have yet to master the basic skills of reading, writing and counting...  

According to Fadhlina Sidek, teachers will identify such students within the first three months of the new academic year.  

These students will then be removed from regular classes and placed under the programme for three months.

The Dewan Rakyat has passed the proposed amendments to the Universities and University Colleges Act. 

Among other things, the amendments give students greater autonomy in managing their associations’ activities and finances.

Pokok Sena, Kedah remains under a heatwave alert today, with temperatures of between 37-40 degrees Celsius.  

19 other areas in Perlis, Kedah, Perak, Pahang, Selangor, KL and Johor were under a less severe Level-1 alert, with temperatures of between 35-37 degrees.
