Couple Linked To Israeli National Charged

A married couple linked to an Israeli national that was arrested in KL last month has pleaded NOT guilty to firearms charges.

The wife was hit with a charge of unlawful firearms possession, while the husband was accused of accompanying a person illegally possessing firearms.

If convicted they could face caning and a maximum of 14 years in prison.

Meanwhile, the IGP says the Israeli man could be taken to the courts after Aidilfitri..  

He was detained two weeks ago, and cops also seized 6 pistols and 200 rounds of ammunition.

The Malaysian Highway Authority expects traffic to surge along major highways starting today on the first day of the Aidilfitri toll-free balik kampung initiative.  

Meanwhile, PDRM says over 1,600 road accidents were reported nationwide yesterday, with 20 deaths.

Penang has put 13 water tanker trucks on standby in case there are water supply disruptions in the state during Aidilfitri celebrations. 

This, amid increased water usage during the festive period, and the ongoing hot spell in several states.

And Perlis; Padang Terap, Kedah; Gua Musang, Kelantan; and Raub and Maran, Pahang were under MetMalaysia’s heatwave alert yesterday, with temperatures of up to 40 degrees Celsius for at least 3 consecutive days. 

24 other areas in Kedah, Penang, Perak, Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang were under a less-severe Level-1 alert.
