Israeli national Shalom Avitan has pleaded not guilty to gun trafficking and possession of bullets.

He was slapped with charges under sections 7 and 8 of the Firearms Act at the KL Sessions Court this morning.

The judge did not grant bail, and set May 21st for mention.

Avitan was arrested late last month at a hotel in KL…with six guns and 200 bullets in his possession.

A housewife and her husband had also claimed trial last week…to charges of selling the guns and ammo to the Israeli national.

PDRM says 35 fatalities from road accidents were reported nationwide on Wednesday.

This is the highest tally recorded since the middle of last month.

However, there were fewer accidents on the first day of Raya…with over 1,200 cases logged on Wednesday... some 340 cases fewer than the day before.

Kuala Lumpur is now the 73rd smartest city in the world.

This, after climbing 16 places in the Institute for Management Development’s latest Smart City Index.

Among the factors that moved KL up the list were the ease of purchasing tickets and finding jobs online.

However, the report also found that traffic congestion, air pollution, corruption and a lack of affordable housing were areas of concern for the city.
