KLIA Shooting: Cops Monitoring Border Crossings

Apr 15, 2024

manhunt for klia shooting suspect

A nationwide manhunt is now underway for the suspect in yesterday’s KLIA shooting.

Police believe the 38-year-old is still in the country, with the cops now closely monitoring checkpoints up north to prevent him fleeing across the border.

The IGP also said the suspect – who has past criminal records – is believed to have obtained his 9mm firearm from a neighbouring country.

He is wanted for firing two shots at his wife at the KLIA arrival hall early yesterday morning.

Both shots ended up missing her…but one hit her bodyguard…leaving him seriously injured.

Malaysians in the Middle East have been urged to stay vigilant…following rising tensions as a result of Iran’s drone and missile attack on Israel.

Wisma Putra is also warning of potential flight disruptions across the region…after several countries there closed off their airspace in response to the latest developments.

-

Meanwhile, Bank Negara says its ready to take the necessary measures to ensure our financial markets remain orderly…amid the threat of volatility due to geo-political risks in the middle east.

-

Slightly over a hundred people had to be evacuated to relief centers in Melaka Tengah and Alor Gajah…after flash floods hit the two districts yesterday.

-

Perlis, as well as 16 other areas in Kedah, Perak, Pahang, Selangor, Kelantan, Sabah and Sarawak…are under a level one heatwave alert.

-

And, elsewhere, Australian police believe the knife attacker who killed six people at a Sydney shopping mall over the weekend was deliberately targeting women.

Five of those who died were women…while the only male fatality was a security guard who tried to stop the attack.
