No Issues Using MyKad For Social Media Verification

There are no issues or policy clashes with using the MyKad for age verification, for the upcoming ban on under-16’s using social media.

The Communications Ministry says the document is already commonly used for this purpose in Malaysia including for e-wallets and other digital services.

It also assured that data protection and system compatibility will be governed under the Personal Data Protection Act.

The Royal Press Office is warning of a fake TikTok account that’s been using AI to produce insulting and inflammatory content targeting His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, the King of Malaysia.

It’s also asked the relevant authorities to take swift action against those responsible for the account.
