Pet owners are being urged to keep a close eye on their animals amid the current haze.
Dr. Nesa Wathi Subramaniam from the Malaysian Veterinary Association tells us, the poor air quality can significantly impact their physical health and well-being…especially for kittens and puppies, senior pets, small animals like birds and those with chronic illnesses.
She says for a start owners need to ensure their pets are sufficiently hydrated, and to limit any long walks outdoors.
Dr. Nesa also advises owners to seek immediate medical attention if their pets display symptoms like dry coughing, heavy panting, rapid breathing and fatigue.

Meanwhile, Samarahan in Sarawak remains the only area nationwide with very unhealthy air quality levels.
Around 40 other localities across Sabah, Sarawak and the Peninsular are also recording unhealthy API readings.

The government has assured that no Tamil vernacular schools will be closed, opting to continue focusing on maintenance and development of SJKT’s, as well as programs to strengthen teachers and students.
The Minister says this assurance is necessary to clear any misconceptions that some Tamil schools could be shut down.

The Fire and Rescue Department will be deploying a helicopter today to assist the search operation for four hikers and two guides who area feared lost in the jungle of Gua Musang.
The group started their journey on August 29th and were supposed to emerge last Thursday.

Reports quoting Indonesian officials say the closures will continue until at least this morning.
