Scams On The Rise Despite Intervention

Scam cases are on the rise, despite the authorities intensifying their awareness programs.

Bukit Aman says more than eight thousand such programs were carried out last year, involving government agencies, banks and private entities. 

This is on top of messaging in the media encouraging the public to be more careful. 

Despite this, commercial crime cases are up by nearly 13 percent in the first quarter of the year. 

Police add that many of the victims, especially those who suffered significant losses, were typically well-educated.

The Agriculture and Food Security Ministry is ready to give a detailed explanation to the Cabinet about the country’s current food supplies.

It says this is something it constantly monitors, to ensure that our food supply chain is not disrupted amid the uncertain global economy.

This, as the Prime Minister is expected to discuss concerns about gradual price increases and other issues about the cost of living during today’s Cabinet meeting.

The Home Ministry says border control, especially at KLIA, needs to remain at the highest level…with 4.6 million visitors coming through Terminals 1 and 2 in the first three months of the year.
