Chelsea have one foot in the League Cup final after beating Tottenham 2-0 in the first-leg of their semifinal this morning.

Kai Havertz gave the Blues an early lead before Spurs defender Ben Davies conceded an own goal.

Chelsea also had numerous opportunities to add to their tally, but were unable to find a further breakthrough.

Liverpool’s League Cup semifinal first-leg trip to Arsenal has been postponed to next week.

Its because of a severe Covid-19 outbreak at the Anfield club, whose assistant manager has now joined Jurgen Klopp in isolation as a suspected positive case.

The Reds were also forced to temporarily close their training complex because of the infections.

The Novak Djokovic-Australian Open controversy has taken a new twist.

The world number one landed in Melbourne, but was denied entry into Australia, reportedly due to a problem with his visa.

It comes just a day after the world number one was granted an exemption from the tournament’s mandatory vaccine requirement.

Sources say Djokovic is now waiting to be deported, although his lawyers are challenging the decision.
