Mar 22, 2021

2003 All England Champion Hafiz Hashim has dismissed claims that Lee Zee Jia was only able to win this year's event due to the absence of players from China, Korea and Indonesia.

He told us that Zee Jia won it on his own merit, having beaten the world's top two ranked players in the competition.

Zee Jia took the men's singles title after beating Denmark's Viktor Axelson in last night’s final.

Meanwhile, the PM led the tributes to Zii Jia for his All England victory

Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin  says the win will motivate young players to overcome challenges and strive for victory.

Tributes also came in from Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican, and former World No.1 Datuk Lee Chong Wei.

Manchester United midfielder Fred was reportedly subjected to racist abuse, for his part in the Red Devils 3-1 FA Cup quarter final defeat to Leicester.

The Brazilian gave the ball away, in the build-up to Kelichi Iheanacho's opening goal for the Foxes.

He's the latest United player to face such abuse after Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Axel Tuanzebe all suffered similar attacks this year.

Borussia Dortmund youngster Jude Bellingham has been cleared to join the England squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers against San Marino, Albania and Poland.

This is after authorities exempted the 17-year-old from having to undergo COVID-19 quarantine once he returns to Germany.

A quarantine would have ruled him out for several key matches for Dortmund.
