Euro 2020: England beat the Czech Republic to top Group D
Jun 23, 2021
England have secured top spot in Group D at Euro 2020 after their 1-0 victory over the Czech Republic at Wembley.
Raheem Sterling netted the only goal of the game in the first half.
England are now set to face either France, Germany, Portugal or Hungary in the last-16…depending on the results of tomorrow’s Group F matches.
Meanwhile, Croatia also secured qualification into the knockout stages from Group D, after their 3-1 win over Scotland.
Elsewhere at the Euros…the UK government says 60 thousand fans will be allowed into Wembley Stadium for the semifinals and finals…despite calls for the matches to be moved away from England due to rising Covid-19 cases there.
Kylian Mbappe has reportedly informed PSG that he wants to leave the club this summer.
The striker has just one year remaining on his current contract, which means the French club are now likely to sell him off to avoid losing him for free next season.
Real Madrid are regarded as Mbappe’s most likely destination, but it is not known if the Spanish giants can afford the player’s massive transfer fee and wages at this time.
Lionel Messi could sign a new Barcelona contract before the end of the week.
It comes amid rumours that the Argentine has already agreed to an extension of his current deal, that expires in seven days time.
Barca officials are said to be putting the finishing touches to their new offer, with the deal expected to be finalized by Thursday.
