Description
In the urban heart of Chow Kit, undocumented and urban-poor children are trapped in a severe cycle of poverty, with average family incomes hovering at just RM350 a month—a staggering 90.03% below Malaysia’s poverty line. Due to financial strains and document constraints, basic healthcare is a luxury; registration fees at public clinics for these children are 50 times higher than for citizens.
To bridge this critical gap, Biomedical Science students, in collaboration with NGOs and industry partners, are spearheading the HPASS Program. Acting as agents of change, these students apply their academic expertise to a real-world social emergency. HPASS delivers a holistic, long-term health approach through three pillars: Health Screening, Immersive Modules, and Sustained Behavioral Change. Conducted directly within the children's safe spaces, the program builds a health-literate generation, creating a positive spillover effect that uplifts families, strengthens communities, and ultimately fosters a healthier, more productive Malaysia.
However, We cannot do this alone. We are launching a public crowdfunding campaign, and we need just RM1 from each of you. Your contribution of RM1 will directly fund free HIV screening, nutritious meals, and life-changing health classes for the resilient children of Chow Kit. Together, a small change from us can make a lifetime of difference for them. Donate RM1 today at My Starfish Foundation website that can be found at our official Instagram handle @myhpass
