A decision needs to be made soon regarding Datuk Azizulhasni Awang’s participation in the 2028 Olympics.

The track cycling legend says the matter must be finalized before next month’s Asian Games, so that he can start making preparations for the grueling qualification process.

The 38-year-old also pointed out that it’s not about whether he wants to participate in the Games but whether the Malaysian team still needs him in Los Angeles.

The Pocket Rocketman said this fresh off his gold medal-winning feat at the recently concluded Commonwealth Games.

In a related development, the Youth and Sports Ministry says a total of 1.1 million ringgit in rewards will be paid out to the Malaysian Commonwealth Games medalists.

Gold medalists will receive 80 thousand ringgit, silver medalists will get 40 thousand, while 20 thousand will go to those who won bronze.
