Brazil Avoid Opening Defeat

Brazil have narrowly avoided an opening defeat at the football festival in North America, after a 1-1 draw with Morocco in their Group C encounter.

Vinicius Jr came to the rescue for the five-time champions, after they fell behind to an Ismael Saibari strike.

Elsewhere in Group C… Scotland got their campaign off to a winning start, beating Haiti 1-0.

Aston Villa striker John McGinn netted the only goal of the game to give the Scots their first victory in the tournament in 36 years.

Meanwhile in Group B…Qatar picked up their first ever point in the competition after holding Switzerland to a 1-1 draw.

The Mercedes driver qualified quickest ahead of Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton, with Kimi Antonelli to start from third in the other Mercedes.
