Messi Shows His Magic For Argentina Again

Lionel Messi has earned himself another entry in the history books.

This, after he scored both goals in Argentina’s 2-0 win over Austria in the football festival in North America.

It brings Messi’s tally in the competition over the years to 18, which makes him the tournament’s all-time record goalscorer, surpassing Germany striker Miroslav Klose.

The win over Austria also secures Argentina’s place in the round of 32.

In other results this morning, Kylian Mbappe netted a brace as France overcame Iraq 3-0.

While Erling Haaland was also on the scoresheet in Norway’s 3-2 victory over Senegal.

Meanwhile, the competition in North America is proving to be a success despite earlier concerns about expensive ticket prices.

Figures show more than 2.3 million spectators have attended the first 36 matches across the USA, Canada and Mexico.

In other developments…

Man City are said to be closing in on the appointment of Enzo Maresca as their new manager after agreeing to a compensation package with his former club Chelsea.

And, reports say Man United have bought up most of the land around Old Trafford to take a significant step towards eventually building a new 100 thousand seat stadium.
