"Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)", featured on Green Day’s fifth album Nimrod, was written by Armstrong years before its release. The track, which expresses the songwriter's frustration over a former girlfriend who left for Ecuador, became a global hit and peaked at number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The Cavern Club, located on Liverpool’s historic Matthew Street, is famously tied to The Beatles’ early career, having hosted nearly 300 performances by the legendary band between 1961 and 1963. Since reopening in 1991, the venue has continued to serve as a hotspot for live music, featuring performances seven nights a week.

McMorran, a former contestant on The Voice UK in 2015, is one of the club’s resident musicians and a local favorite.

This isn’t Armstrong’s first memorable encounter with a cover. The Green Day frontman, who enjoys performing covers himself as part of his side project, The Coverups, has made headlines for surprise performances.

Whether as a fan or a performer, Armstrong’s passion for music and live shows remains as strong as ever.
