Nicole Kidman brought a touch of her steamy Babygirl role to the stage as she accepted the award for Best Actress at the National Board of Review Gala in New York City.

The 57-year-old actress paid homage to a memorable scene from the thriller while delivering her acceptance speech. Holding a glass of milk aloft, she quipped, “I’m going to raise a glass of milk to all of the baby girls in the room.”

As cheers erupted, Kidman sipped from the glass before dramatically finishing its contents in seconds. “Good girl,” she remarked with a smile before blowing a kiss and exiting the stage.
The playful gesture referenced a pivotal moment in Babygirl, where her character Romy—a high-powered CEO and seemingly perfect wife and mother—receives a glass of milk from Samuel, an intern played by Harris Dickinson, at a bar.

Director Halina Reijn, who co-wrote and produced Babygirl, revealed that the milk scene was inspired by an experience from her own life. Speaking to IndieWire, Reijn recounted an evening when a younger Belgian actor ordered her a glass of milk at a bar. “I thought it was an incredible, hot thing to do, and so courageous,” she said. While the moment made her slightly nauseous—“It was cow milk!”—she described it as “one of the most arousing moments of my life.”
Nicole Kidman, who described Babygirl as a film best watched “alone,” reflected on the project’s boldness and vulnerability. “This is something you do and hide in your home videos,” she previously joked about the daring role.
