A 25-year-old designer from Penang, Kai Hung, recently went viral on TikTok after sharing an unforgettable experience. In his video, @kaihungofficial revealed that he was commissioned to design a handmade bag featuring traditional Malaysian elements. However, the true identity of the recipient remained a mystery—until later.

In the video, Kai Hung explained that he was approached by someone he knew to design a custom bag for an anonymous client. Initially, he thought the request was for the middleman who contacted him.

 “Normally, I don’t take fully custom orders,” Kai Hung shared. “But since I knew the person making the request, I decided to make an exception.”

The middleman eventually disclosed that the bag was meant for someone else, though their identity was kept a secret. As he worked on the project, Kai Hung aimed to highlight Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage. He described the creative process, which involved using songket fabric for the exterior, saree material for the interior lining, and incorporating his signature touch as a Chinese designer with his logo inside the bag.

The result was a stunning piece that celebrated Malaysia’s multicultural identity.

After completing and delivering the bag, Kai Hung received a surprising message a few days later. Along with a congratulatory note, he was sent a video revealing the true recipient of his design: none other than Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

Kai Hung included clips of the Prime Minister holding the custom-made bag in his TikTok video. He expressed his amazement at the unexpected honor, calling it one of the most incredible moments of his career.

This unforgettable experience not only highlights Kai Hung’s exceptional talent as a designer but also underscores the beauty of Malaysia’s cultural diversity.
